How it works

1. If Grim Poppet has any -1/-1 counters on it, activate it by removing a -1/-1 counter from it.
2. Repeat step 1 as necessary until Grim Poppet has no -1/-1 counters on it.
3. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Grim Poppet.
4. When Grim Poppet dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
6. Repeat.
7. Resolve all Grim Poppet abilities, putting infinite -1/-1 counters on any number of creatures.

This elegant loop transforms the duality of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an engine of endless rebirth, relying on the backside's static persist ability to bring Grim Poppet back to the battlefield with a single -1/-1 counter whenever it perishes. You then feed that dying construct to Carrion Feeder, whose sacrifice ability permanently grows it while clearing the way for the Poppet to return. Before sending it to the graveyard, you make full use of Grim Poppet's activated ability by stripping away its counters to blight opposing creatures.
