How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Maulfist Squad.
2. When Maulfist Squad dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Maulfist Squad enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
5. Repeat.

This looping engine relies on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight—the transformed face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn—to grant persist to your other nontoken creatures, allowing Maulfist Squad to keep coming back from the graveyard each time it dies. When Maulfist Squad returns, its fabricate ability triggers to place a +1/+1 counter on it, which immediately neutralizes the -1/+1 counter it received from persist so it can be sacrificed all over again. Meanwhile, Carrion Feeder acts as the designated sacrifice outlet that fuels the loop while growing larger with every iteration, generating an endless stream of sacrifice and death triggers.
