How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing it.
2. When Carrion Feeder dies, Mortuary and Carmen trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Carrion Feeder from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Carmen trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and put a +1/+1 counter on Carmen.
5. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
6. Cast Carrion Feeder from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
7. Repeat.

This delightfully morbid loop lets you feed Carrion Feeder to itself over and over, turning your graveyard into a revolving door thanks to Mortuary, which dutifully places the fallen insect right back on top of your library. Meanwhile, Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher grows into a massive aerial threat and offsets your life total every time a permanent is sacrificed. The secret engine enabling you to cast the Feeder straight from your library without spending mana is Gwenom, Remorseless, whose attack trigger lets you bypass mana costs by paying life instead—a cost easily cushioned by Carmen's lifegain and Gwenom's own lifelink.
