How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing the creature with persist.
2. The persist ability triggers, returning that creature to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it, as well as a +1/+1 counter due to Gev.
3. The +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on that creature are removed as a state-based action.
4. Resolve the ability from step 1, putting a +1/+1 counter on Carrion Feeder.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms Gev, Scaled Scorch and Carrion Feeder into an engine for endless sacrifice, triggering continuous creature entries and departures from the battlefield. While Carrion Feeder acts as the willing outlet to consume your forces and grow to monumental proportions, Gev, Scaled Scorch provides the crucial structural support: its static ability ensures that any creature returning via persist re-enters with an extra +1/+1 counter, which immediately neutralizes the dreaded -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. Because those counters cancel each other out, the creature is left pristine and ready to be sacrificed to Carrion Feeder all over again.
