How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing the other Mutant.
2. When the Mutant dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When the Mutant enters, X-23 triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on X-23 and the other Mutant.
4. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop sets up an endless cycle of sacrifice and rebirth by leveraging the back side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, which grants your other nontoken creatures the persist ability. When you feed a creature to Carrion Feeder, its persist mechanic returns it to the battlefield with a -1/+1 counter, but the entering creature simultaneously triggers X-23, Deadly Weapon to place a +1/+1 counter on it. Because state-based actions immediately cancel out the -1/-1 counter and the +1/+1 counter simultaneously, the creature is left clean and ready to be sacrificed all over again.
