How it works

  1. Cast False Dawn by paying 1W mana.
  2. Activate Component Pouch's second ability by tapping it, causing you to roll a d20 and put at least one component counter on it.
  3. Activate Filigree Sages by paying U mana, or by paying W mana due to False Dawn, untapping Component Pouch.
  4. Activate Component Pouch's first ability by tapping it and removing a component counter from it, adding W manaW mana which can be spent as mana of any color due to False Dawn.
  5. Activate Filigree Sages by paying W mana, untapping Component Pouch.
  6. Repeat from step 2.
  7. Once you have infinite component counters on Component Pouch, you may forego steps 2 and 3 to get infinite colored mana.

This ingenious loop centers around turning Component Pouch into a self-sustaining engine, fueled by its ability to generate two colored mana when you tap it and remove a component counter. Because False Dawn lets you spend that white mana as though it were mana of any color, and crucially alters spells and abilities you control to yield white mana instead, you can easily pay the activation costs required to keep the magic going. Biomancer's Familiar steps in as a vital cost-reducer, dropping the activation cost of Filigree Sages down so that untapping the Pouch requires just one mana. By repeatedly tapping the Pouch and having Filigree Sages untap it, you generate a surplus of mana while continuously stacking up counters, ultimately yielding infinite colored mana and infinite untaps of your artifacts.
