How it works

1. Activate Gilder Bairn by tapping it, adding G/U.
2. Activate Gilder Bairn by paying G/U and untapping it, doubling each counter on target permanent.
3. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns Gilder Bairn into an exponential growth engine by leaning heavily on Zirda, the Dawnwaker, whose cost-reduction ability shrinks the hybrid mana activation cost down to just one mana—allowing Gilder Bairn to continuously untap itself and double counters. To fuel this engine, Song of Freyalise steps in as the perfect catalyst, providing the mana needed through its first two lore chapters while eventually distributing +1/+1 counters across your board. Once those counters are in place, Gilder Bairn can target them to rapidly explode their numbers to infinity, leaving your entire army permanently massive and unstoppable.
