How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing the persist creature.
2. When the persist creature dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to your commander's ability granted to it by Master Chef.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to the persist creature's power.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the graveyard into a mill-stone by exploiting the interaction between a creature with persist and Master Chef. Because Master Chef grants your commander an ability that gives entering creatures an additional +1/+1 counter, when your persist creature returns from the graveyard, that +1/+1 counter immediately cancels out its incoming -1/-1 counter. You can then use Altar of Dementia to sacrifice the creature again, turning its freshly bolstered power into an infinite mill engine that grinds through your opponents' libraries.
