How it works

1. Play Glacial Chasm either from your hand or from your graveyard.
2. When Glacial Chasm enters the battlefield, its second ability triggers, causing you to sacrifice another land you control.
3. Play any land from your graveyard.
4. At the beginning of your next upkeep, Glacial Chasm's cumulative upkeep ability and The Gitrog Monster's first ability trigger.
5. Resolve The Gitrog Monster trigger, sacrificing Glacial Chasm.
6. Resolve the Glacial Chasm trigger, choosing not to pay and doing nothing as Glacial Chasm is no longer on the battlefield.
7. Repeat.

This ingenious survival lock lets you hide behind Glacial Chasm to prevent all damage dealt to you, bypassing its escalating cumulative upkeep cost by recycling the land away before it overwhelms you. Whenever you sacrifice a land to keep Glacial Chasm's upkeep at bay—or feed The Gitrog Monster's mandatory upkeep sacrifice—The Gitrog Monster turns that loss into fresh card advantage by drawing you a card. Meanwhile, Perennial Behemoth keeps your engine running by letting you replay those sacrificed lands straight from your graveyard, ensuring you always have a fresh land to sacrifice when Glacial Chasm enters the battlefield anew.
