How it works

1. Activate Bloodflow Connoisseur by sacrificing the creature with persist.
2. The persist ability triggers, returning that creature to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter.
3. Ivy Lane Denizen triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on the persist creature.
4. Resolve the ability from step 1, putting a +1/+1 counter on Bloodflow Connoisseur.
5. Repeat.

This clever synergy relies on the fact that +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters cancel each other out as a state-based action, wiping the slate clean for your persist creatures. Whenever you use Bloodflow Connoisseur to sacrifice a persist creature, that creature returns with a -1/-1 counter, but the entry trigger from Ivy Lane Denizen immediately drops a +1/+1 counter on it to neutralize the penalty. This loop not only feeds Bloodflow Connoisseur an endless supply of +1/+1 counters, but it also generates infinite entry and leave-the-battlefield triggers to exploit however you see fit.
