How it works

1. Activate Bloodflow Connoisseur by sacrificing Reputable Merchant.
2. When Reputable Merchant dies, its innate ability and persist ability trigger.
3. Resolve the Reputable Merchant trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on a creature you control.
4. Resolve the persist trigger, returning Reputable Merchant from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. When Reputable Merchant enters, it triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
6. Resolve the Bloodflow Connoisseur ability.
7. Repeat.

This elegant feedback loop relies on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight—the night-facing side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn—to grant your nontoken creatures the persist ability, allowing Reputable Merchant to resurrect itself from the graveyard whenever it perishes. To turn that resurrection into a perpetual engine, you use Bloodflow Connoisseur as a dedicated sacrifice outlet, which conveniently receives a +1/+1 counter each time it consumes a creature. Every time Reputable Merchant enters the battlefield or dies, its own ability triggers to place a +1/+1 counter on a creature you control, nicely offsetting the -1/+1 counter it receives from persist and letting the merchant loop indefinitely for boundless sacrifices, enter-the-battlefield triggers, and counter growth.
