How it works

1. During your precombat main phase, activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the legendary creature with flying, adding one mana of any color.
2. When the creature dies, Jackdaw Savior triggers, returning Loyal Retainers from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. Activate Loyal Retainers by sacrificing it, returning the legendary creature with flying from your graveyard to the battlefield.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on a continuous resurrection cycle fueled by the death-trigger engine of Jackdaw Savior. When you sacrifice your legendary creature with flying to Phyrexian Altar, you not only generate colored mana, but you also trigger Jackdaw Savior to pull Loyal Retainers back from your graveyard. From there, you simply sacrifice Loyal Retainers to its own ability—which doesn't even require mana—to bring your original legendary flyer right back to the battlefield, ready to be sacrificed to the Altar all over again.
