How it works

1. During your precombat main phase, activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing the legendary creature with flying.
2. When the creature dies, Jackdaw Savior triggers, returning Loyal Retainers from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to the sacrificed creature's power.
4. Activate Loyal Retainers by sacrificing it, returning the legendary creature with flying from your graveyard to the battlefield.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on a finely tuned exchange of lives between your graveyard and battlefield, fueled by the recursive synergy of your key permanents. When you sacrifice your legendary creature with flying to Altar of Dementia, its death triggers Jackdaw Savior, whose static-like triggered ability swoops in to resurrect Loyal Retainers from the graveyard. You then immediately cash in Loyal Retainers by sacrificing it to bring the legendary creature right back, setting up an endless cycle that continuously mills your opponents.
