Kenrith, the Returned King + Phyrexian Altar + Avenger of Zendikar
How it works
- Activate Kenrith's fifth ability by paying 4, returning Avenger of Zendikar to the battlefield from your graveyard.
- When Avenger of Zendikar enters the battlefield, it triggers, creating at least four 0/1 Plant creature tokens.
- Activate Phyrexian Altar five times by sacrificing Avenger of Zendikar and four Plants, adding 4.
- Repeat.
- If you control five or more lands, this combo nets infinite creature tokens and colored mana, which can be used to activate any of Kenrtih's other abilities.
This brilliant loop lets you pull off a royal resurrection by feeding an army straight back into the machine. With at least five lands under your control, Kenrith, the Returned King uses his black-mana activation to pull Avenger of Zendikar right out of your graveyard, immediately flooding the board with a fresh crop of Plant tokens. You then feed that very same Avenger of Zendikar along with four of its sprouted tokens to Phyrexian Altar, cashing them in for precisely the black mana needed to fuel Kenrith, the Returned King's return journey. Because the Plants enter in numbers equal to your land count, you are left with a surplus of mana and bodies every single cycle, letting you pivot into infinite life, card draw, or pumped-up attackers.
