How it works

1. Cast Artificial Evolution by paying , changing all instances of "Merfolk" on Judge of Currents to either "Vampire" or "Knight" until end of turn.
2. Activate Famished Paladin by tapping it, adding one mana of any color.
3. Judge of Currents triggers, causing you to gain 1 life.
4. Famished Paladin triggers, untapping itself.
5. Repeat.

By using Artificial Evolution to rewrite Judge of Currents so that it triggers on your Vampires or Knights instead of its native Merfolk, you pave the way for a brilliant self-sustaining loop. Famished Paladin normally sits stranded on the battlefield since it doesn't untap during your untap step, but Cryptolith Rite solves this by giving it the ability to tap for any color of mana. Every time you tap Famished Paladin for that mana, the rewritten Judge of Currents sees the creature become tapped and grants you a point of life. That influx of life instantly triggers Famished Paladin to untap itself, leaving you ready to tap it all over again for infinite colored mana and infinite life.
