How it works

1. Activate Aphelia by paying 4, causing an opponent to lose half their life total, rounded up, whenever they are dealt combat damage by a Gorgon or Snake this turn.
2. Deal combat damage to the opponent using a Gorgon and/or Snake.
3. Aphelia triggers, causing the opponent to lose half their life total, rounded up.
4. At the beginning of your end step, Archfiend of Despair triggers, causing the opponent to lose life equal to the life they've lost this turn.
5. The opponent loses the game due to having 0 or less life.

This lethal combination weaponizes Aphelia, Viper Whisperer's activated ability, which makes your Gorgons and Snakes halve an opponent's life total whenever they deal combat damage. By paying {4}{B} and connecting with a creature, you slice their remaining life in half in a single blow. The engine is then immediately amplified by Archfiend of Despair, whose passive ability prevents any life gain and whose end-step trigger doubles down on that exact life loss, ensuring the opponent loses whatever life they dropped during the turn all over again and instantly dropping them to zero.
