How it works

1. Activate The Core by tapping it, adding at least three mana of any color.
2. Activate Emiel by paying 3, blinking Derevi.
3. When Derevi enters the battlefield, it triggers, untapping The Core.
4. Repeat.

This elegant loop transforms Emiel the Blessed into a self-sustaining mana engine by taking advantage of Derevi, Empyrial Tactician's enter-the-battlefield trigger. Once you activate The Core—the transformed side of Matzalantli, the Great Door—to produce enough mana, you can feed Emiel's ability to repeatedly blink Derevi. Each time Derevi returns, its untap trigger immediately refreshes The Core to start the cycle anew, generating infinite colored mana, infinite enters-the-battlefield triggers, and infinite activations of any permanent you control.
