How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and Pearl Medallion.
2. Defiler of Faith triggers, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
3. When the Soldier enters, Suture Priest triggers, causing you to gain life.
4. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Suture Priest trigger.
5. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
6. Resolve the Suture Priest trigger, causing you to gain life.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Whitemane Lion into a completely free, self-returning engine by leveraging cost reduction and life payment. With Pearl Medallion shaving off generic mana and Defiler of Faith discounting the remaining white mana at the cost of 2 life, you can repeatedly cast the Lion for zero mana. Every iteration triggers Defiler of Faith to generate a 1/1 Soldier creature token, which in turn causes Suture Priest to endlessly pad your life total as creatures flood the battlefield.
