How it works

1. Cast Basking Broodscale by paying 1, which enters with a +1/+1 counter on it due to Bloodspore Thrinax.
2. Basking Broodscale triggers, creating a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn creature token that enters with a +1/+1 counter on it due to Bloodspore Thrinax.
3. Activate the Eldrazi Spawn by sacrificing it, adding C.
4. When the Eldrazi Spawn dies, Resourceful Defense triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Basking Broodscale.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This ingenious loop turns Basking Broodscale into an infinite mana and counter factory by exploiting how counters interact with creatures entering the battlefield. The engine relies on Bloodspore Thrinax to ensure that Basking Broodscale and every resulting Eldrazi Spawn token enter with a +1/+1 counter already on them, which immediately triggers Basking Broodscale's ability to make another token. When you sacrifice that Eldrazi Spawn for colorless mana, Resourceful Defense catches the departing counter and redirects it right back onto Basking Broodscale, re-triggering the whole sequence.
