How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Hopeful Eidolon, adding .
2. When Hopeful Eidolon dies, Mortuary and Ashiok's Reaper trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Hopeful Eidolon on top of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Ashiok's Render trigger, causing you to draw Hopeful Eidolon from your library.
5. Cast Hopeful Eidolon by paying .
6. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Hopeful Eidolon as a self-sustaining engine, using its cheap casting cost to continuously feed the machine. When you sacrifice the creature to Phyrexian Altar, Mortuary immediately intercepts it in the graveyard to stack it on top of your library, while Ashiok's Reaper turns that death into a fresh card draw. Because the mana generated by the Altar pays for the Eidolon's re-casting, the entire sequence loops infinitely—fueling your storm count and churning through your deck with every cycle.
