How it works

1. Activate Gilder Bairn by tapping it, adding G/U.
2. Activate Gilder Bairn by paying G/U and untapping it, doubling each counter on target permanent.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Gilder Bairn's ability to double counters on a target permanent, a process normally held back by its untap cost. However, Zirda, the Dawnwaker steps in to slash that activation cost down to just a single mana of any color. To fuel this directly, Cryptolith Rite grants Gilder Bairn the power to tap for mana, allowing it to pay for its own doubling ability while generating infinite counter-scaling on any permanent of your choice.
