How it works

1. Activate Gilder Bairn by tapping it, adding G/U.
2. Activate Gilder Bairn by paying G/U and untapping it, doubling each counter on target permanent.
3. Repeat.

This crafty loop turns Gilder Bairn into a self-sustaining counter-doubling engine by exploiting its ability to untap as a cost. Paradise Mantle is the key piece that grants the creature a tap ability to generate the exact hybrid mana needed to fund Gilder Bairn's untap activation. Meanwhile, Zirda, the Dawnwaker brings essential cost reduction to the table, slashing the non-mana activation cost so that doubling your counters becomes economically viable.
