How it works

1. Activate a Clue by paying 2 and sacrificing it.
2. Lonis and Sakashima of a Thousand Faces' second abilities trigger.
3. Resolve the Lonis trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on Cryptic Trilobite.
4. Resolve the Sakashima of a Thousand Faces trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on Lonis.
5. Lonis' first ability triggers, creating a Clue artifact token.
6. Resolve the Clue ability from step 1, causing you to draw a card.
7. Activate Cryptic Trilobite's first ability by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, adding CC that can only be spent to activate abilities.
8. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns the simple act of cracking a Clue into a self-sustaining engine of counters and card draw. With Sakashima of a Thousand Faces copying Lonis, Genetics Expert (allowed by Sakashima's exemption from the legend rule), every sacrificed Clue triggers both investigators to pass a +1/+1 counter back and forth between Cryptic Trilobite and Lonis. Those counter placements fuel Lonis's ability to manufacture a brand-new Clue, while Cryptic Trilobite's mana ability provides the exact two generic mana needed to crack it again—and because that mana must be spent on activated abilities, it pays for the Clue sacrifice cost perfectly.
