How it works

1. Activate Zedruu by paying , giving control of Notion Thief to the next opponent in turn order.
2. During that opponent's draw step, they draw a card.
3. Consecrated Sphinx triggers, causing the opponent to draw two cards due to Notion Thief.
4. Consecrated Sphinx triggers twice.
5. Resolve the first trigger, causing the opponent to draw two cards due to Notion Thief.
6. Repeat from step 4 until the opponent loses the game due to drawing from an empty library.
7. When the opponent loses the game, you regain control of Notion Thief.
8. Activate Zedruu by paying , giving control of Notion Thief to an opponent.
9. Resolve a Consecreated Sphinx trigger, causing the opponent who controls Notion Thief to draw two cards.
10. Repeat from step 4.

This clever lock starts by using Zedruu the Greathearted's ability to hand over Notion Thief to your opponent, weaponizing their own draw step against them. Once Notion Thief is under their control, its replacement effect turns any attempted card draw into a theft for you—which immediately triggers Consecrated Sphinx's mandatory draw ability. Because Consecrated Sphinx sees your opponent drawing cards, it forces *more* draws, creating a self-sustaining loop of Sphinx triggers and Notion Thief thefts that quickly mills out your opponent's entire library.
