How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Phyrexian Metamorph.
2. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Phyrexian Metamorph by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop uses Nest of Scarabs as the engine, turning the movement of -1/-1 counters into an endless swarm of Insect tokens. By having Phyrexian Metamorph enter the battlefield as a copy of Grim Poppet, you create a mirrored pair of threats that can continuously strip counters from one another and trade them back. Each time you shift a counter using either Grim Poppet or the cloned Phyrexian Metamorph, Nest of Scarabs happily watches and rewards you with a fresh token, letting you bounce the counters back and forth indefinitely to generate an unstoppable army.
