How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Spark Double.
2. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Spark Double by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This loop is a brilliant little engine of mutual self-preservation, fueled by trading counters back and forth between a monstrous creature and its illusory twin. Whenever Grim Poppet strips a counter from itself to place one on Spark Double, Nest of Scarabs springs into action to reward the aggression with an Insect token. Then, Spark Double simply returns the favor by spending that same counter to put one back on Grim Poppet, triggering Nest of Scarabs all over again in an endless, cyclical dance of shrinking and swelling.
