How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Glasspool Mimic
2. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Glasspool Mimic by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms simple counter manipulation into an endless stream of insect life by mirroring your key threat. With Nest of Scarabs sitting quietly on your battlefield, every single time a -1/-1 counter is placed, its static ability rewards you with a 1/1 black Insect token. To fuel this, Grim Poppet uses its activated ability to strip away its own -1/-1 counters and place them elsewhere, while Glasspool Mimic enters the battlefield as a copy of Grim Poppet to join in the counter-passing cycle. By bouncing the counters back and forth between Grim Poppet and Glasspool Mimic indefinitely, Nest of Scarabs triggers over and over again to flood your board with infinite creature tokens and endless enter-the-battlefield triggers.
