How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Clone.
2. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Clone by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop centers around Grim Poppet and its cloned twin, Clone, trading -1/-1 counters back and forth in an endless cycle. Because Clone enters the battlefield as a copy of Grim Poppet, it shares the exact same activated ability to strip away a counter and place it onto another target. Every single time a counter is moved onto either creature, Nest of Scarabs springs into action to generate a 1/1 black Insect creature token, fueling an endless stream of creature tokens and enters-the-battlefield triggers.
