How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Dack's Duplicate.
2. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Dack's Duplicate by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This looping engine starts by using Dack's Duplicate to copy Grim Poppet, allowing you to field a pair of creatures that can effortlessly pass -1/-1 counters back and forth between themselves. Every single time a counter is shifted onto either creature, Nest of Scarabs watches the action and rewards your resourcefulness by churning out a 1/1 black Insect token. Because neither Grim Poppet nor Dack's Duplicate is ever destroyed by running out of counters in this specific back-and-forth exchange, you can repeat the process indefinitely to flood the board with an endless army of tokens.
