How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Pirated Copy.
2. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Pirated Copy by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This ingenious loop relies on turning a clone into an engine: by using Pirated Copy to duplicate Grim Poppet, you create a pair of creatures that can pass -1/-1 counters back and forth indefinitely. Each time a counter is placed on either creature, Nest of Scarabs triggers to flood the board with 1/1 black Insect tokens, providing an endless stream of fodder for your strategy. Because Grim Poppet and Pirated Copy can alternate targeting each other, you can keep the activation loop going as long as you want to generate infinite enters-the-battlefield triggers and creature tokens.
