How it works

1. Activate Yawgmoth by paying 1 life and sacrificing another creature.
2. When the creature dies, Popular Egotist triggers, causing you to gain 1 life and target opponent to lose 1 life.
3. Resolve the Yawgmoth ability, putting a -1/-1 counter on any other creature and causing you to draw a card.
4. If the creature who had the counter placed has 0 toughness, it dies as a state-based action.
5. Nest of Scarabs triggers, creating a 1/1 Insect creature token.
6. Repeat until your opponents do not control any more creatures, or until you draw your library.
7. If you have cards remaining in your library, you may repeat this combo any time a creature enters the battlefield under an opponent's control.

This brilliant engine turns a single sacrifice into a self-sustaining loop of card draw, counter placement, and incremental life drain. By using Yawgmoth, Thran Physician to sacrifice a creature, you trigger Popular Egotist to drain your opponent while simultaneously feeding Yawgmoth's card-drawing ability. Crucially, every time Yawgmoth places a -1/-1 counter, Nest of Scarabs steps in to provide a fresh 1/1 Insect token to sacrifice next, keeping the chain unbroken until you dig through your entire library.
