How it works

1. Activate Fertilid by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, causing you to search your library for a basic land card and put it on the battlefield untapped due to Tiller Engine.
2. When the basic land enters, Tiller Engine, Nissa and Retreat to Kazandu trigger.
3. Resolve the Tiller Engine trigger, untapping the basic land.
4. Resolve the Nissa trigger, adding .
5. Resolve the Retreat to Kazandu trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on Fertilid.
6. Activate the basic land by tapping it, adding 1.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Fertilid's ability into a self-sustaining engine by leveraging Tiller Engine to untap the fetched land immediately, providing the mana needed to repeat the process. Nissa, Resurgent Animist fuels the loop by generating extra mana with each land drop while simultaneously digging through your deck for Elves and Elementals. Meanwhile, Retreat to Kazandu quietly replenishes Fertilid's removed +1/+1 counters with every landfall trigger, ensuring you never run out of fuel while scouring your entire library for basic lands.
