How it works
- Activate up to seven lands by tapping them, adding at least 3.
- Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Great Whale, adding one mana of any color.
- When Great Whale dies, Nim Deathmantle triggers, returning Great Whale from your graveyard to the battlefield, and attaching Nim Deathmantle to it.
- When Great Whale enters the battlefield, it triggers, untapping up to seven lands.
- Repeat.
- If the lands can tap to produce at least 4, this combo nets infinite mana.
This clever loop transforms Great Whale into a self-sustaining mana engine, provided your lands can generate at least four mana to foot the bill. When you sacrifice the Whale to Phyrexian Altar, its death triggers Nim Deathmantle's ability, allowing you to pay four mana to instantly return the creature to the battlefield and reattach the Equipment. That fresh entry triggers the Whale's ability to untap up to seven lands, netting you a surplus of mana and resetting the cycle with infinite life-blood for your altar.
