How it works

1. Activate Yahenni by sacrificing Glen Elendra Archmage
2. When Glen Elendra Archmage dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Glen Elendra Archmage enters, Stalwart Successor triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Glen Elendra Archmage
4. Resolve the Yahenni ability.
5. Repeat.

This loop harnesses the recursive engine of Glen Elendra Archmage alongside the sacrifice outlet Yahenni, Undying Partisan, turning a standard sacrifice into a self-sustaining cycle. Because Glen Elendra Archmage returns via persist with a -1/-1 counter, Stalwart Successor steps in to neutralize that drawback: its triggered ability places a +1/+1 counter on the Archmage the first time counters are added to it each turn, effectively nullifying the -1/-1 counter through state-based actions and leaving the Archmage pristine and ready to persist again.
