How it works

1. Activate Deathbringer Thoctar by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, dealing 1 damage to itself.
2. Rite of Passage triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Deathbringer Thoctar.
3. Repeat an arbitrarily large number of times.
4. Move to the next turn, removing all damage marked on Deathbringer Thoctar.
5. Activate Deathbringer Thoctar by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, dealing 1 damage to any target.
6. Repeat step 5 as desired.

This clever loop turns Deathbringer Thoctar into a self-contained artillery piece by weaponizing its own damage against it. Whenever Deathbringer Thoctar pings itself, Rite of Passage notices the creature taking damage and attempts to reward it with a +1/+1 counter. That is where Doc Samson, Super Psychiatrist comes in to elevate the math: its replacement effect ensures that every time a counter is supposed to be placed, you get an extra one instead, netting a positive surplus of counters with every single iteration. As Deathbringer Thoctar accumulates an infinitely massive pool of counters, you can simply redirect its activated ability away from itself and toward any target to wipe out the opposition.
