How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Gravelgill Axeshark
2. When Gravelgill Axeshark dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Gravelgill Axeshark enters, Stalwart Successor triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Gravelgill Axeshark
4. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop lets you sacrifice Gravelgill Axeshark to Bartolomé del Presidio, sending it to the graveyard where its persist ability immediately triggers to return it with a -1/-1 counter. As Gravelgill Axeshark enters the battlefield, Stalwart Successor notices the new counters and grants a +1/+1 counter, which neatly cancels out the -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. Because this reset leaves Gravelgill Axeshark completely free of counters once more, you can feed it back into Bartolomé del Presidio to repeat the process indefinitely, generating a massive vampire, endless deaths, and infinite entry triggers.
