How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing the persist creature.
2. When the persist creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When the persist creature enters the battlefield, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
5. Repeat.

This cunning loop relies on pairing a creature with the persist mechanic alongside Cayth, Famed Mechanist, whose static ability graciously grants fabricate 1 to all your other nontoken creatures. When you sacrifice that persist creature to Bartolomé del Presidio, its persist trigger brings it straight back to the battlefield, where Cayth's newly-bestowed fabricate trigger immediately counters its -1/-1 counter with a +1/+1 counter. Because these opposing counters annihilate each other through state-based actions, the creature is left entirely clean and ready to be sacrificed to Bartolomé del Presidio all over again. The result is an unstoppable engine that feeds Bartolomé del Presidio endless +1/+1 counters while generating boundless sacrifices, entries, and leaves-the-battlefield triggers.
