How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Wakandan Royal Guard.
2. When Wakandan Royal Guard dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Wakandan Royal Guard enters, it triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
5. Repeat.

By transforming Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn into Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, you grant your nontoken creatures persist, creating a recursive safety net when they perish. When you sacrifice Wakandan Royal Guard to Bartolomé del Presidio, the Guard's persist ability brings it right back to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. Crucially, the Wakandan Royal Guard's own enters-the-battlefield trigger counters that drawback by placing a +1/+1 counter on itself, allowing these two opposing counters to annihilate each other so the cycle can repeat indefinitely while growing Bartolomé del Presidio into a towering threat.
