How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Iron League Steed.
2. When Iron League Steed dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Iron League Steed enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
5. Repeat.

This fascinating loop turns a modest automaton into an engine of endless sacrifices, fueled by Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn / Isilu, Carrier of Twilight and Shilgengar, Sire of Famine working in tandem. On its front face, Eirdu gives your creature spells convoke, but once transformed into Isilu, it grants your other nontoken creatures persist, ensuring that when Shilgengar sacrifices Iron League Steed, the Steed immediately returns with a -1/-1 counter. That return triggers Iron League Steed's fabricate ability to place a +1/+1 counter on it, which conveniently and perpetually neutralizes the -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. This leaves the Steed pristine and ready to be sacrificed to Shilgengar over and over again, generating an infinite cascade of Blood tokens and death triggers.
