How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and Grand Arbiter Augustin IV.
2. Defiler of Faith triggers, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
3. When the Soldier enters, Impassioned Orator triggers, causing you to gain life.
4. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Impassioned Orator trigger.
5. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
6. Resolve the Impassioned Orator trigger, causing you to gain life.
7. Repeat.

This loop relies on a clever cost-reduction engine to cast and bounce Whitemane Lion for zero mana over and over again. Grand Arbiter Augustin IV and Defiler of Faith work together to completely eliminate the mana cost of casting your white creature spells, while Defiler of Faith simultaneously populates your board with 1/1 Soldier tokens whenever you cast one. Each token's arrival triggers Impassioned Orator to keep your life total topped up, offsetting the life you pay to Defiler of Faith's alternative casting cost. Finally, Whitemane Lion's own enters-the-battlefield ability triggers to return itself straight back to your hand, priming the loop to repeat indefinitely.
