How it works

  1. Cast the creature with mana cost 0 from your graveyard for its retrace cost by discarding a land card.
  2. Tangleroot and Turntimber Sower trigger.
  3. Resolve the Tangleroot trigger, adding G mana.
  4. Resolve the Turntimber Sower trigger, creating a 1/1 Squirrel and a 0/1 Plant creature token.
  5. Activate Turntimber Sower by paying G mana, sacrificing the 0 cost creature, the Squirrel and the Plant, returning a land card from your graveyard to your hand.
  6. Repeat.

This fascinating loop turns Six into an infinite engine by granting retrace to your nonland permanent cards, letting you cast a zero-mana creature from the graveyard by discarding a land. As that creature is cast, Tangleroot kicks in to fund your mana needs by providing green mana, while Turntimber Sower immediately rewards you with a Plant token whenever a land hits your graveyard. This is where Chatterfang, Squirrel General shines brightest: its replacement effect doubles every single token creation, turning one Plant into both a Plant and a matching pair of Squirrels. With three disposable creatures readily available, Turntimber Sower can easily be activated to sacrifice the lot, bringing the discarded land right back to your hand and starting the whole alchemical cycle anew.
