How it works

1. Activate Sling-Gang Lieutenant by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Arwen.
3. Resolve the Sling-Gang Lieutenant ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop uses Sling-Gang Lieutenant as both the sacrifice outlet and the win condition, draining your opponents' life totals while spawning two 1/1 red Goblin tokens whenever it enters. The true catalyst of the engine is Putrid Goblin, whose persist ability would normally bring it back with a -1/-1 counter, but Arwen, Weaver of Hope brilliantly circumvents this drawback by granting additional +1/+1 counters that immediately and permanently cancel out the -1/-1 counters. Because the goblin returns completely clean every single time, you can continuously feed it back into the lieutenant to generate an endless cascade of death, entry, and sacrifice triggers in formats like commander, legacy, oathbreaker, and vintage.
