How it works

1. Activate Sling-Gang Lieutenant by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Renata.
3. Resolve the Sling-Gang Lieutenant ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns a modest Goblin band into an unstoppable engine of life-draining attrition. By using Sling-Gang Lieutenant to sacrifice Putrid Goblin, you trigger its persist ability to bring it right back to the battlefield; normally, that would come with a crippling -1/-1 counter, but Renata, Called to the Hunt steps in with her static ability to ensure it enters with an additional +1/'+1 counter instead, neatly canceling out the penalty. Because Putrid Goblin enters clean of counters each time, you can repeat the sacrifice over and over to drain your opponents dry with Sling-Gang Lieutenant's activation.
