How it works

1. Activate Sling-Gang Lieutenant by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Gev.
3. Resolve the Sling-Gang Lieutenant ability.
4. Repeat.

This cunning loop turns the recycling bin into a win condition by exploiting a clever counter-canceling interaction. When you sacrifice Putrid Goblin to Sling-Gang Lieutenant's ability, its persist mechanic normally brings it back with a -1/-1 counter, but Gev, Scaled Scorch's passive ability cleverly neutralizes this drawback by granting an entering +1/+1 counter because an opponent lost life from the Lieutenant's sacrifice, causing the two counters to annihilate each other. Because the goblin returns pristine and ready to persist again, Sling-Gang Lieutenant can feast on it endlessly to drain your opponents into oblivion while flooding the board with sacrifice and death triggers.
