How it works

1. Activate Sling-Gang Lieutenant by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Uncivil Unrest.
3. Resolve the Sling-Gang Lieutenant ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns a modest Goblin sacrifice into an endless engine of destruction, fueled entirely by the clever interaction between Putrid Goblin and Uncivil Unrest. Because Uncivil Unrest grants nontoken creatures riot, when Putrid Goblin returns via its persist ability, you can choose to have it enter with a +1/+1 counter—which immediately cancels out the -1/-1 counter it would normally receive, allowing the persist trigger to keep working indefinitely. Meanwhile, Sling-Gang Lieutenant provides both the sacrificial altar to keep the loop moving and the lethal trigger that drains your opponents out of the game with every iteration.
