How it works

1. Activate the Goblin sacrifice outlet by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Thran Vigil triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Putrid Goblin.
4. Resolve the Goblin sacrifice outlet ability.
5. Repeat.
6. This combo will provide infinite results of whatever the Goblin sacrifice outlet produces, which will vary depending on the sacrifice outlet used.

This clever loop hinges on Putrid Goblin's persist ability, which brings it back from the graveyard with a -1/-1 counter, combined with any sacrifice outlet to repeatedly send it back to the bin. As the Goblin leaves your graveyard, Thran Vigil triggers during your turn to place a +1/+1 counter on it. Because +1/+1 and -1/+1 counters annihilate each other as a state-based action, Putrid Goblin is stripped of its -1/-1 counter instantly—leaving it completely fresh and ready to persist all over again the next time it meets its doom.
