How it works

  1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
  2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Putrid Goblin enters the battlefield, Geralf's second ability triggers, putting a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the number of other Zombies that entered the battlefield under your cotnrol this turn.
  4. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability, causing you to scry 1.
  5. Repeat.

This elegant loop relies on Putrid Goblin and Viscera Seer to create a seamless engine of sacrifice and rebirth, as sacrificing the Goblin triggers its persist ability to bring it right back to the battlefield. Because persist places a -1/+1 counter on Putrid Goblin, Geralf, the Fleshwright steps in with his second ability, turning each return into an opportunity to place +1/+1 counters that instantly cancel out the -1/-1 counter. This interaction completely resets the Goblin's persist eligibility, allowing you to feed it back into Viscera Seer indefinitely to rack up infinite scries, creature deaths, and arbitrarily large +1/+1 counters.
