How it works

1. Activate Goblin Trashmaster by sacrificing Putrid Goblin
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Putrid Goblin enters, Cathars' Crusade triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control
4. Resolve the Goblin Trashmaster ability.
5. Repeat.

This brilliant loop turns Putrid Goblin into an immortal sacrifice engine by continuously exploiting its persist ability, which brings it back from the graveyard whenever it dies. Goblin Trashmaster provides the reliable outlet to send our goblin friend to the grave while threatening opposing artifacts. Meanwhile, Cathars' Crusade harnesses every single return to blanket your board in +1/+1 counters. Because Goblin Trashmaster grants a passive +1/+1 buff to your other Goblins, and those incoming counters from the Crusade immediately cancel out the -1/+1 counters from persist, Putrid Goblin never accumulates a permanent counter debt—allowing you to repeat the cycle indefinitely and build an unstoppable army.
