How it works

1. Activate Goblin Bombardment by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Hardened Academic triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Putrid Goblin.
4. Resolve the Goblin Bombardment ability.
5. Repeat.

The real secret to sustaining this loop lies in Hardened Academic; whenever the Goblin leaves the graveyard via its persist trigger, the Academic steps in with its passive trigger to slap a +1/+1 counter onto the returning Goblin. Because +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters actively annihilate each other through state-based actions, Putrid Goblin is stripped of its -1/-1 counter immediately upon entry, resetting its persist ability so it can be sacrificed all over again.
