How it works

1. Activate Yahenni by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Resolve the Yahenni ability
4. Repeat.

This clever synergy turns the classic persist mechanic into an endless loop by using Melira, Sylvok Outcast to completely nullify the -1/-1 counters that would normally shut Putrid Goblin down. Because Melira's static ability prevents those counters from being placed, every time Putrid Goblin dies and triggers its persist ability, it returns to the battlefield fresh and ready to be sacrificed all over again. Feeding this goblin into Yahenni, Undying Partisan lets you continuously trigger its sacrifice outlet while generating an infinite stream of creature enters-the-battlefield, leaves-the-battlefield, and death triggers.
